I built my first nature shrine of the year today! Let the season begin!
It is an “antenna” to call in my life partner. I’m 50, I’m ready. I’m calling him in. I’m intentionally making space for a true and real partnership in my life. 
I came back to the Cow Pasture, the very first spot where I started building these shrines many years ago, (and became an urban legend there.)
I am deeply connected to this land and that is why I chose this spot near the Well which I have worked with magically often.
I am using roses, which is a flower I work closely with both internally and externally. It has much medicine to offer. But basically you can view it as connected to the divine feminine, with a soft, compassionate, heart opening quality. They are so often associated with love, so that’s another reason they were a good choice for today’s shrine.
I used the colors red, white, and pink. Red and pink are often associated with love too. But the meaning is actually a lot deeper than just that. Red and White are often used in religious and spiritual symbolism, and together they make pink. One such place they are used is in the white bread and red wine at communion. Known as the body and blood of Christ. However, there is a more ancient and tantric association with these colors as semen (white) and menstrual blood (red.) Our ancestors worked with these colors closely in this way. They hold a tremendous amount of significance about male/ female energies mixing, creation of life, and much more which I may write more about on my blog when I post this.
Lastly I have chosen a Blue Jay feather to place in the center rose because Blue Jays mate for life and that is the energy I’m calling into my life at this moment

Oh right- and you will see I have used my flower crown from Beltane yesterday as the central round structure for the shrine. I am doing this work at this time because it is Beltane season- the sensual season of love. With the full moon in Scorpio, adding additional juiciness to this lusty month of May, as they say.

I am just getting around to posting many months later. The most amazing thing happened right after I built this shrine. The blue jays took up residence in my yard. They began chasing all the crows, who used to roost there, out. This has significance because of the association of the crow with my last lover/ boyfriend, who had just left me and broke my heart about one month prior to me building the above shrine.
